Beaten rice with multi flour rooti

Last week when I was searching something,,I found some of my old cook books...I was happy and just having a look on one of those book....and I found this recipe..which I felt something interesting and may be yummy to eat....so on the very next day I tired this rooti...for which they have mention as 'Beaten rice paratha'.....
But as this is not a paratha I thought of changing the name bit..and also they have mention to deep fry these rooti's..but I cooked in Tawa...

The final result was very good....so thought of sharing with all of you...hope all will enjoy..



Ingradents:
I used small cups(made 10 rooti's)
Beaten rice 2cup(use thin)
Semolina 1/4 cup
Self raising flour 1cup
Rice flour 1/4 cup
Coriander powder 2tsp
corn four 1/4 cup
salt as per taste
grated ginger 1TBSP
finely chopped green chilly 3-4(or as per ur taste)
Fresh finely chopped coriander 1/4 cup
water to make dough+ to dip the finger
Silver sheet (can use any shape..i used a square shape)
Preparation:
Soak the beaten rice in water for 5mins.mix all the flour in a bowl add chopped chilly,corionder grated ginger salt,coriander powder and soaked beaten rice...and prepare dough by adding water.like below


Now grease the sliver sheet and take a portion of dough(big lemon size approx) and dip your fingers in water and spread the dough in a circle shape as thin as possible.

Heat the tawa and put the rooti(along with the silver sheet) after 1-2 mins you will be able to take of the silver sheet.


Now cook both the side properly.till red spot comes.....


Now the rooti is ready to serve.......





server the hot rooti with chutney or fresh ghee,,,

Butternut Squash Stir Fry(Side Dish)

Hello reader's....there is something I would like to share with you all before I begin to write about my recipe today....

Now coming to my recipe...I always use to think of buying this butternut as i never tried before...but always end up without buying it...
But this time finally I bought and tried with this recipe....even I even need to make soup from butternut.....This stir fry was really yummy...you can prepare this stir fry also using Pumpkin....



INGREDIENTS:
Butternut squash 1/2
Coconut oil/cooking oil 2tsp
Bengal gram lentil 1/2 tsp
Dry Red chilly 1
Mustered 1/2 tsp
turmeric 1/2 tsp
curry leaves 6
Salt to taste
lemon juice 1 tsp


To make paste:

Fresh grated coconut 1/2 cup
Dry Red chilly 3-4
Sesame seed 2TBSP
a pinch of Hing
Tamarind paste 1/2tsp
coconut oil 1tsp to fry

Heat oil in a small pan add hing after 30 seconds add red chilly and sesame fry for a min then mix with coconut and tamarind make a coarse paste .

Preparation:

Take of the skin of butternut,,and cut in to small small cubes(thin) and keep aside..

Heat the oil add urad lentil once it is golden brown add mustered, red chilly,turmeric,curry leaves saute for 2mins



now add chopped butternut,


give a good stir and cover with lid.Cook till the butternut is tender(do not overcook them.
Saute in between to avoid burn. Once the butternut is almost cooked add salt,sugar and lemon juice mix well, now add the coconut paste and saute properly...after 5mins turn of the heat.



The Butternut Squash stir fry is ready to serve.I like to have this with hot rice and coconut oil.....yummy....

Moong Lentil (Dhal) hot drink

Hello All,,,,Its been long time I have not updated my blog,,,,I really don't know the exact reason...i was bit busy ....no time to try new kind of dishes....so here I am back with one simple and delicious drink..


This is a very good drink in all seasons and any time of the day.....I learned it from my mom-in-law...When we were not having lunch or dinner(while going to temples) she use to prepare this drink,,so that we wont get hungry and also this drink keeps your body cool......

And also this drink is very very simple to make but its a very healthy and tasty drink....

Ingredients:
(to make 3 glass drink)
Yellow split Moong lentil(dhal) 1cup(small)
Milk 2glass
water 1 cup (add only if required)+extra for cooking the lentil
Jaggarey (grated)1/2 cup(small) or as per taste

Method:

Cook the the moon lentil b y adding water in a thick bottom pan till it is very smooth.

Then add the milk and water(add water only if required)bring it to boil.



Keep and eye on this and stir in between.Now add the jaggarey and mix well.Once every thing got mixed turn of the heat ....


The hot Drink is ready to serve....serve hot..any time..

Riped Banana Sweet and spicy Fletters/ Nedra Bale Hannina Podi

This Banana Podi is a famous snack in South Karnataka.. especially when we were in Mangalore we use to love this podi and mom use to prepare regularly.for this podi they use different kind of banana...which is big in size with different taste. This kind of banana is very nice to make raw banana chips......

So Last weekend We bought that kind of banana because my hubby also likes it very much and the recipe is very simple and easy to make.......But it tastes very very yummy...


Ingredients:
Bengal Gram flour(gram flour/split Chickpeas flour 2 cup)
Big Banana Riped 2 (Manglore banana or Nendra banana)
Caraway seed 1tsp
turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
lemon juice 2tsp
Baking soda 1/2 tsp
Red chilly powder 2tsp
oil for deep frying
salt to taste
water to make batter



Preparation:

Cut the Banana in to 3 equal parts,take of the skin and make medium size slice and keep aside.


In a mixing bowl add all other ingredients(except oil) and mix well, and make batter by adding water(it should be more thick than dosa batter).


Heat the oil in frying pan and dip the banana slice in batter and fry them both sides properly and take out,put it on tissue. Once the extra oil is absorbed ,poodi is ready to serve.....



Serve hot with chutney or and kind of dips or.....just with Tea...

My Visit to Real Food Festival

Finally I visited the Real food Festival...wow It was really nice worth visiting..The Real Food Festival is a feast of everything that is great about real food festival.

There were more than 300 Britain’s best food producers exhibiting their products. The exhibition was filled up with lots of stalls..... home made products like chutney,chocolates,honey,cup cakes,ice creams,pastries,pies and pickels,organic products like fresh vegetables,fruits,chocolates(made of organic products)olive oil,tea,coffee and it goes on,,,,,There was sheep show in the exhibition.One more interesting part was demonstration of cookery show from different clebrety chefs and there was even a chance to have a close encounter with the baffellows and chickens.

There was lots of stalls for fresh meat and other non-veg items.As we are pure vegetarin's...food was bit difficult for us.....but we enjoyed a lot with ice creams, cookies,chocolates, fresh fruits,cake pastries and lots kind of home made dips and chutney.....

I am very amaized to see so many thing in a single place...I am running out of words here....but only I can say is that , the experience I had was very good and It was a rare kind of opportunity for me and I felt it was worth visiting place for all.

Totally we all enjoyed a lot and looking forwards for such visit again again...

Even though there were many organic and home made chocolate stall , this is one Chocolate stall which I liked very much....

When I was taking picture of his stall he asked me that am I from press or from any other magazine.....He was curious and when I told him that I have my food blog where I will be uploading these pictures ,He was happy and explained about all the verity of chocolate(all were organic) which was there and even he offered me, caramel, strawberry and mint flavored chocolates......which was very yummy,,,,,,,and also he took my  Blog ID saying that i will surely check your Blog.......So kind of him.....
