Tri Colour Idly

Actually I am preparing this(try colour) for the first time,,,,,,When I was preparing normal Idly this time..I though of giving some twist to it,,,,,,,After my Dill Paddu its time to try Dill Idly......Dill is one of my fav green leave,,so I keep on trying new dishes from Dill......and also the carrot idly tastes very good...... perfect for kids..


Ingredients .for Idly batter:
Idly Rava 2 cups
Urad dhal(lentil) 1 cup

To Prepare Idly batter:
Soak the lentil in water for about 6-7 hours and grind in blender. In a big bowl add idly rava wash in water and add urad dhal batter to this and mix properly.Keep this batter covered for overnight.

To make White idly:
idly batter 1 cup
salt as per taste

To prepare White Idly:
Mix batter and salt together..add water if required and pour the batter in idly plate,prepare idly in idly cooker.

Ingredients for Dill Idly:
Idly batter 1 cup
Finely chopped Dill 1 cup
cooking oil 1tsp
mustered 1/2 tsp
salt as per taste

To prepare dill Idly:
Heat Oil in a pan add mustered after 20 seconds add Dill,saute till it is half cooked,then turn of the heat.
In a mixing bowl add Idly batter batter and cooked Dill,salt ,mix everything properly. add water if required and pour the batter in idly plate,prepare as normal idly in idly cooker.
Ingredients for Carrot idly Idly:
Idly batter 1 cup
Grated carrot 1/4 cup
salt as per taste

In a mixing bowl add all ingredient's mix everything properly. add water if required..and pour the batter in idly plate,prepare as normal idly in idly cooker.

The Tri coloured Idly is ready to serve now.......Arrange them and serve with chutney or sambar....

  1. Excellent colors for idli's & nice choice of ingredients too:) I recently prepared fish biryani in dill and it turned out-Dill has become a favorite of mine as well:)
